Information we collect

We collect information you give us, information created when you use the Service, and information from partners:

• Account details: your name, email address, password, phone number (optional) and profile photo.
• Fundraiser content: titles, stories, photos, updates, goal and location, including any details you share about the person or group the Fundraiser is for.
• Donation details: amount, date, the fundraiser you supported, your display choice and any message. Card details are collected and stored by Stripe.
• Payout details: identity and bank information you provide to Stripe to receive funds. We receive only verification status and the last digits of your bank account.
• Communications: messages you send to our support team or to organizers.
• Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, pages viewed and, with your consent, analytics data.

How we use your information

• To provide the Service: create accounts, host fundraisers, process donations and payouts, and send receipts.
• To keep CrowdiFund safe: verify identities, prevent fraud, review reports and enforce our Terms.
• To support you: answer questions and resolve problems.
• To improve the Service: understand how it is used and fix issues (analytics only with consent where required).
• To send updates: fundraiser updates you opted into, and, if you agree, tips and product news. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Our legal bases

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you; our legitimate interests in running a safe and effective service; your consent (for example, for analytics and marketing cookies); and complying with legal obligations, such as keeping financial records.

What is shown publicly

Fundraiser pages are public. They show the organizer’s name, the fundraiser story and photos, updates, and the names, amounts and messages of donors who did not choose to donate anonymously. Organizers can see the names of donors who gave to their fundraisers, even if they donated anonymously, so they can say thank you.

Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

• Stripe, to process payments, verify identities and send payouts.
• Service providers who host our systems, send emails, provide customer support tools and, with consent, analytics. They may only use your information on our instructions.
• Organizers, who receive donor names and messages as described above.
• Authorities, where required by law or to protect people from harm.
• A buyer or successor, if CrowdiFund is involved in a merger or sale, with this Notice continuing to apply.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and keep donations secure, and, with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies. See our Cookie Policy to learn more and change your choices.

How long we keep information

We keep account information while your account is open. Donation and payout records are kept for 7 years to meet tax and financial reporting laws. Support conversations are kept for 2 years. When we no longer need information, we delete or anonymise it.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, two-step verification for staff and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and turn on two-step verification in Account settings.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download or delete your information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent. California residents have rights under the CCPA, and we do not discriminate against anyone who exercises them.

You can update most information in Account settings. To make a request, email privacy@crowdifund.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

We are based in the United States and may process information in other countries. When we transfer information from the UK or EEA, we use approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Users under 18 cannot create fundraisers or receive funds.

Changes to this Notice

We will post any changes on this page and, if they are significant, notify you by email or through the Service.
