Summary

• Free to start — There is no fee to create a Fundraiser. CrowdiFund keeps a fee of 4.9% + $0.50 from each donation, which covers card processing and payouts. There are no tips.
• Payments by Stripe — Donations and payouts are processed by our payment partner, Stripe. We never store full card numbers.
• Giving Guarantee — If a Fundraiser isn’t what it claims to be, eligible Donors can request a refund within 30 days of donating.
• Be truthful and kind — Fundraisers must be accurate and lawful. We remove misleading, hateful or harmful content and may close accounts that break these Terms.
• Your privacy — Our Privacy Notice explains how we collect and protect your information.

Accepting these Terms

By creating an account, starting a Fundraiser, donating, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know by email or through the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Fundraiser or receive funds. Organizers must live in a supported country (currently the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland and other countries in the European Economic Area, and Switzerland) and have a bank account there. Donors may give from any country. All Fundraisers raise money in US dollars (USD); payouts to bank accounts in other currencies are converted by Stripe, which may charge a conversion fee.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us straight away at support@crowdifund.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

Starting a Fundraiser

When you create a Fundraiser, you confirm that everything you say about it is true, accurate and complete, and that you will keep it up to date. You must explain clearly who the funds are for and how they will be used.

Funds raised by a Fundraiser are always paid to its Organizer. If your Fundraiser is to help another person or group, you confirm that you have their permission, and you agree to pass the funds on to them promptly and use them as described. You remain responsible for doing so.

Creating a Fundraiser does not mean that CrowdiFund endorses it. Organizers are solely responsible for their Fundraisers and for complying with any laws that apply to their fundraising, including tax laws.

Donations

Donations are voluntary gifts. They are not payments for goods or services, and Donors do not acquire any ownership or right to control how funds are used, except as described in the Giving Guarantee.

Donations made through CrowdiFund go to individuals and groups, not registered charities, so they are generally not tax-deductible.

Once a donation is made, you will receive a confirmation from CrowdiFund and a payment receipt from Stripe.

Fees

Starting a Fundraiser is free. CrowdiFund deducts a fee of 4.9% + $0.50 from each donation. It covers card processing by Stripe, payouts to Organizers and the cost of running the Service. The fee is shown before you donate, and the Organizer receives the rest.

Donors pay exactly the amount they choose; CrowdiFund does not ask for tips. If an Organizer’s bank account is not in US dollars, Stripe converts payouts into the local currency and may charge a conversion fee.

Payments and payouts

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. in US dollars. To receive funds, Organizers must create a Stripe account and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Stripe may ask for identity and bank details to comply with the law.

Funds are held safely until verification is complete. Once verified, you can withdraw funds from your Stripe dashboard; transfers typically arrive in about 2 business days. We may delay or withhold a payout if we reasonably suspect fraud, a breach of these Terms, or if required by law.

Refunds

Because donations are gifts, they are generally non-refundable. We may refund a donation where it was made in error, where we detect fraud, or where a Fundraiser is removed for breaching these Terms.

Refund requests must be made within 30 days of the donation by contacting support@crowdifund.com. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method; processing fees may not be recoverable.

The Giving Guarantee

The CrowdiFund Giving Guarantee protects Donors if a Fundraiser misrepresents who it is for or what it is about, or if the Organizer does not use the funds, or pass them on, as described.

To make a claim, report the Fundraiser and contact us within 30 days of your donation. If your claim is approved, we will refund your donation up to the amount you gave. The Guarantee does not cover disappointment with how an Organizer chooses to use funds in line with the Fundraiser’s description.

What’s not allowed

You must not use the Service to:

• raise money for anything illegal, or for violence, hate, harassment or discrimination
• mislead Donors, including by using false stories, photos or identities
• raise money for yourself while pretending it is for someone else, or raise money for another person without their consent
• collect donations off-platform using the Service to promote the request
• upload content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy
• interfere with the Service, including by scraping, hacking or sending spam

Your content

You keep ownership of the text, photos and videos you post. By posting them, you give CrowdiFund a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and share them for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service and your Fundraiser.

You confirm that you have the right to post your content, and that it does not include anyone’s personal information (such as a child’s full name and school) without appropriate consent.

Reviewing, pausing and removing Fundraisers

We review Fundraisers and reports from users. We may ask Organizers for more information, pause donations, edit content that breaks these Terms, or remove a Fundraiser. Where possible we will tell the Organizer why and explain how to appeal.

Organizers can pause or close their own Fundraisers at any time from their dashboard.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Stripe for payments, and may link to other websites. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

Disclaimers

We provide the Service “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any Fundraiser will reach its goal. We are not responsible for the conduct of Organizers or Donors, except as set out in the Giving Guarantee.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CrowdiFund will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the fees you paid to CrowdiFund in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your use of the Service

You can close your account at any time from Account settings once your Fundraisers are closed and your payouts are complete. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as fees owed, content licences and limitations of liability) will survive.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you live in the UK or European Union, you also benefit from any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.

If you have a concern, please contact us first; most issues can be resolved quickly. Any dispute that we cannot resolve informally may be brought in the courts of Delaware or, where you are a consumer, in the courts where you live.
